It’s true, the Waterloo Busker Carnival is about to embark on its 25th anniversary and it’s easy to see why. The carnival is considered to be one of the top three busker carnivals in Canada and one of the oldest Canadian busker events. The carnival is the summer event every Waterloo resident waits for.

“It’s very hard to believe the Waterloo Busker Carnival has been around for 25 years now,” admits Stephen, the General Manager of Afterglow.

“I can still remember going to see the Waterloo Buskers long before my kids were born and they’ve been going for years” Stephen adds. Today the Waterloo Busker Carnival attracts more than 60 thousand people a year over its four days.

There’s plenty to learn about the festival and Waterloo has had its share of talent. We found out that the 1990 carnival had performances from a band that would become international celebrities! The Barenaked Ladies were performers described as “Toronto – tongue-in-cheek acoustic musicians”. Who knew what lay was ahead for the soon to be stars!

Everyone at Afterglow has been counting down the days until the carnival begins. Tomorrow is the big opening and we can’t wait to see friends, family, coworkers and clients out on the Uptown streets.

If you haven’t already, check out the schedule and plan your weekend. We wouldn’t want you to miss out on the next Barenaked Ladies.
