Summertime in Waterloo Region is filled with great community events for the whole family to enjoy! As Region residents, the Afterglow team loves supporting the vibrant and fun activities that take place over the summer.
From a broad range of festivals in our beautiful parks, to street fairs in our core areas that feature: live bands, local artists, and delicious local food and drink, there is truly something for everyone to enjoy!
Provided below are our top three favourite summer activities:
1. Although the Sun Life Financial Uptown Waterloo Jazz Festival has passed, the TD Kitchener Blues Festival is just around the corner!
Fun fact: The creative pistons that drove one of Canada’s most successful rock bands, the Guess Who, are headlining the Blues Festival. The festival will go down King Street from August 6-9, 2015, so you should buy your tickets soon.
2. In addition to stellar live music, THEMUSEUM in Kitchener is hosting Stone Soup’s two-week Blues inspired “pop-up” art gallery. It will feature 15 local artists from August 6-9, and 12-15, 2015.
Be sure to check it out!
3. Everyone at Afterglow is also excited about Sun Life Financial’s Waterloo Busker Carnival, August 27-30, 2015! It’s not only one of the top busker carnivals in Canada, but is also one of the oldest: last year it celebrated its 25th anniversary.
The performances will be all along King Street from Erb Street West to William Street. Remember, these streets will be closed! But there is plenty of free parking uptown, or if you want to avoid the congestion take advantage of Waterloo’s public transit system.
Enjoy your summer and have a wonderful time at these events!
