Father’s Day falls on Sunday, June 21 this year and there is no shortage of great local activities for you and Dad to share together! From DIY crafts to craft beer tastings, Waterloo Region has it all.

Here are our top 5 ideas for appreciating Dad this Father’s Day:

1. Open Streets

Uptown Waterloo is turning Bridgeport to Willis into the Open Streets event on Father’s Day. The streets will be filled with music, an artisan market, and activities from local businesses and community groups! For example, the UW Juggling Club will be teaching and juggling, King Street Cycles is offering kids tune-ups and helmet fittings, and much more.

Visit Open Streets with dad this Sunday June 21 and enjoy the many activities the event has to offer.

2. Father’s Day Craft Beerfest

A special Father’s Day Craft Beer Festival will take place on Sunday, June 21st from 11am-5pm in Doon Heritage Village. It will feature amazing local craft brewers: Wellington Brewery, StoneHammer Brewing, Descendants Beer & Beverage Co., and more!

If you are 19+ and want to treat your Dad to some of the Region’s best craft beers we highly recommend this event!

3. Crafty Creation: DINOmite Dad!

Make Dad something that will fast forever. Located in the heart of downtown Kitchener, THEMUSEUM is offering a special Crafty Creation class at 11AM and 2PM to make Father’s Day cards! It’s a great activity that Dad will definitely love.

4. Big Band Legends

Get your Dad’s toes tapping with this tribute to great crooners and songbirds at Cambridge’s Dunfield Theatre! Backed by an all-star orchestra, you’ll hear music from: Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Bing Crosby, Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole, Tony Bennett, Neil Diamond, Paul Anka, Doris Day, Bobby Darin, Harry Connick Jr., Michael Bublé, and more. The show runs until June 22.

5. Dad’s Day Festival Weekend

Looking for a fun place for dad to enjoy the outdoors? Take him to the Freeport Bridge in Kitchener! Grand River Fest is hosting a Father’s Day Festival weekend that includes: kayaking, trail hayrides, food trucks, live music, canoeing and more!

The event starts on June 20 and continues until the 21.

Here at Afterglow we take the father-child relationship very seriously. Why? Because Afterglow is a family affair! George McDonald started the company and over the years both of his sons have joined him and his youngest, Stephen, is now the General Manager.

Check out an interview George and Stephen did about what it’s like to work with each other!
