Allergy sufferers rejoice!

Spring has sprung! That means warm weather, fresh cut grass and bright flowers in bloom. It also means sneezing and sniffling for seasonal allergy sufferers.

But allergens aren’t just outside, they also find there way indoors — wreaking havoc on your home’s air quality and your health.

Did you know on average, indoor air is five times more polluted than the air outside? Yikes! Fortunately, there are solutions available that work to reduce pollutant levels in your home and improve its air quality. Below are three tips to help your entire household fight off allergens this spring:

UV Light1. Install a UV light in your HVAC system

Installing a ultra-violet light in your home’s HVAC system is an excellent way to improve both airflow and filtration! These lights are extremely effective at killing microscopic mold spores that flow through the system from outdoor sources. In addition, UV lights diminish germs and bacteria in the ductwork, reducing the allergens in your home.

2. Steam clean your carpets  VACCUUM

Scheduling a carpet cleaner to steam your carpets will help rid your home of any allergens that may have accumulated over the winter; and, as an added bonus your carpets will look fresh and new! Not sure who to call? Waterloo Region has lots of local carpet cleaners, including NuClean Steam Clean, AAA Steam Carpet Cleaning and more.

Using a natural remedy to rinse your sinuses can help reduce allergy symptoms. Most health food stores carry “Neti-pots”, which are used to rinse sinuses, and look like tiny teapots! Plus, our General Manager says that they “really work!”
